Hello, guys! In the midst of most schools starting back, I thought I'd share some affordable products I've recently discovered (or have been using for a while) that may make you feel a little more fresh and put together during the harsh winter months of walking to class. Enjoy!
Most people would't associate skincare and college together. However, with the daily stress of homework, exams, and projects - this obviously causes the dreaded breakout every now and then. It's defintiely important to wash your face morning and night so your skin can be cleansed of any dirt, makeup, or excess oils.
Garnier just released a great new line of skincare and cleansers for dry, combo, and oily skin types. I thought this was awesome because we obviously all have different skin types and it's hard to find cleansers that suit your needs in the drugstore. I picked up the Smoothing Cream Cleanser for Dry Skin. I love buying drugstore cleansers to use in the shower and this one caught my eye after I saw the variety. At first use, I was hooked. The scent is fabulous and my face actually felt moisturized after cleansing with it! Girls, I would highly recommend trying out this line - and for $5.99 a bottle, you can't beat it!
It's obvious that
most days everyday we either sleep in and don't have time to do makeup, or honestly just don't feel like it. Using a quick brightening concealer underneath the eyes and over any blemishes can make you look a little fresher. I like this Match Perfection Concealer by Rimmel because it comes in a handy tube with a brush that you can keep in your purse or backpack for quick application. It's also a highlighting concealer - say bye bye to dark under eyes for only $4.97!
When the winter/spring semester rolls around - my lips officially die from walking back and forth to class. Chapstick is out of the question and I often use the original Aquaphor which is basically petroleum jelly. Luckily, they came out with a lip friendly version that is seriously AMAZE BALLS! You'll never want chapstick again after using this - especially if you have dry or cracked lips! I know it's nothing fancy, but for those of you who need off the chapped lips struggle bus, go for this!
When I saw these at Walgreens, I died. They're so cute and I thought the "clickable" factor was awesome. These would definitely be space friendly when it comes to apartment and dorm living. Also, at $2.99 a piece, it's easy to gradually build your own custom everyday palette. The color selection is off the hook. There were so many neutral, dark, and colorful shades to choose from - something for everyone!
So, I took these photos without realizing that the HandiBac Lotions from Bath and Body are now discontinued :( However, I found an identical product from Gold Bond that you can get at Walmart called "Ultimate Hand Sanitizer Lotion". Sanitizing lotions are great for the winter months because they don't dry out your hands like a regular alcohol based sanitizer will. Also, with the flu spreading like wild fire, it's great to keep these in your backpack and purse!
All hail the dry shampoo! The greatest invention for a college girl BY FAR! Washing your hair with water and real shampoo? Ain't nobody got time for that! The Dove Invigorating Dry Shampoo is the best I've ever tried. It makes your hair smell like a dream and leaves it looking fresh and volumized. I can't get enough of it. If you're still on the traditional "wash my hair every night" wagon - well, you must not have any homework or projects due because like I said, there's no time for that! Get the Dove Dry Shampoo ASAP!
I hope these suggestions will make it into your winter essentials this year, or better yet, make your long days of studying more bearable.
Until next time...
