Sephora "Give Me Some Lip" Lip Sampler

Happy Tuesday to all! Today I have yet another Sephora splurge to share with you all! I always love when Sephora comes out with the yearly sample sets. It gives you an opportunity to really find a few diamonds in the rough and also allows you to test products you wouldn't pay full price for.

The kit I got is exclusively a lip set which comes with 6 lip products from glosses, lip balms, and pencils. I wanted to share my thoughts on it because, well, you case you've been eye balling it wondering if it's worth your money!

Nars & Buxom

Nars "Turkish Delight" Lip Gloss: Of course we all know this color as Kim Kardashion's "signature" lip gloss. I was so excited to try it! I give the formula an A+ for not being sticky or thick. As a matter of fact, it almost felt "wet" on the lips. However, I wasn't extremely impressed with the color. I have pretty pigmented lips so it's kind of hard for a SUPER pale pink to show up on them, not to mention, it almost appeared white with the first coat?! I'm definitely glad I got to test this out before even considering buying it. I just can't see myself paying $25 for this one gloss!? That's how much the entire kit costs!

Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in "Dolly": Gotta love the Buxoms! I have actually owned "Dolly" before. If you weren't aware, Buxom is a branch of Bare Minerals. Boutiques and spa lines of Bare Minerals used to carry the Buxom lip line, however, they are only sold at Sephoras now. These glosses are considered as "lip plumpers", meaning that they tingle your lips. Dolly is a sheer mauve. Definitely wearable with a lot of lip colors. This color is not going to come off super pigmented. You can build it up but don't expect a full "liquid lipstick" effect.

Laura Mercier & Tarte
Laura Mercier Lip Glace in "Bare Pink": This gloss is very comparable to the Nars "Turkish Delight" only a big more pigmented and on the peachy side. It also feels better on the lips! The texture is buttery smooth and it smells like strawberries and cream...what more could you ask for? I'm definitely a fan!

Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Luster in "Glitzy": I'm so in love with any type of Tarte lip products, especially the Lipsurgence line. This shade in particular is very unique. It contains a golden shimmer undertone on top of a rosy finish. As usual, these are extremely comfortable on the lips. I think this is a beautiful shade for fall!

Fresh & Bite Beauty
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in "Rose": This is a product I've owned before and have actually enjoyed. I wouldn't really consider this anything but a lip balm, as it doesn't give off much color on my lips. If you have more of a muted lip color then you may be able to see more payoff. Overall it's a really moisturizing lip product, but nothing I would spend $25 on.

Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in "Rhubarb":  HIGH PIGMENT? REALLY?! As you can probably tell, this lip pencil looks identical to the tinted lip balm, yet it is marketed as a "high pigmented" product. Not at all.... this applied just like the Fresh Tinted Balm only a tad bit more glossier. I was very disappointed because I was looking for at least one product in this kit to be on the bolder side, obviously with a name like "high pigment" you'd think this would be. Not....

Layered Looks
Nars "Turkish Delight" on top of Revlon "Soft Nude"

Laura Mercier "Bare Pink" on top of Revlon Lip Butter in "Cupcake"

Overall Thoughts
For $25, this kit is obviously a steal in terms of the amount of products you get. Only one product in the kit was full size (Tarte Lipsurgence) however, the rest were decent sizes.

Here's the deal, if you're a total sheer lip junkie, this kit is for you. If you're more of a bolder kind of gal, I'd say wait for something that's really going to give you the bang for your buck. Most of the colors in the kit were pretty and wearable, but, nothing immediately caught my attention and "wowed" me.

I'd have to say out of all of the products in this kit, either the Laura Mercier lip gloss or the Tarte Lipsurgence were my favorites. The Lipsurgence was unique in color which is why I'm vouching for it. The Laura Mercier gloss felt fabulous on the lips which is why my vote goes to it.

So, what did you guys think? Deal or a bust?

Thank you so much for reading!
Until next time...

  1. Loved your review! It made me want to keep the tarte lipsurgence instead of giving it away. My favorite was the bite lipstick tough. I loved the formula and weird enough, on me it looks exactly like in the tube, very pigmented.
