NEW: Bare Minerals "Lash Domination" Mascara Review

Hi guys! I'm so excited to be bringing you this review today! Bare Minerals released their new "Lash Domination" 10-in-1 volumizing mascara on QVC a few months ago and it INSTANTLY sold out!

As most of you already know, I work at a BM retailer. We just received the mascara on Tuesday and boy was I excited to do this review for you all. The mascara has a TON of claims so I want to go through those to let you know which benefits shined through and which ones didn't. Enjoy!
Before & After
As you can tell, I have a pretty small to normal lash type (as far as length, thickness, volume etc.) They could be longer but I've definitely seen smaller.
First Impressions:
  • Definitely not as dry as the normal BM Flawless Definition Volumizing formula is
  • Spiraled 180 curve wand seemed a bit awkward while grasping lashes and wasn't ideal for the extremely small inner lashes
  • Nice formula- not too wet but not too dry
  • Didn't irritate eyes- bonus for women with sensitivities to mascara
  • Not a ton of length going on
  • Separates well
Lash Domination Claims:

  • Volumizes
  • Lengthens
  • Thickens
  • Separates
  • Lifts
  • All-Day Wear
  • Mineral Fortified
  • Smudge-Free
  • Clump-Free
  • Flake-Free
What worked for me and what didn't?

First thing's first, the mascara definitely does volumize. It has similarities to their original volumizing mascara. I really enjoyed the formula of the mascara as well. Its claims of "All-Day Wear/Smudge-Free/Clump-Free/Flake-Free" have all proven themselves to be true in my case (we all know everyone is different).

Now, the downside, for me, was the lengthening claim. I've yet to find a "volumizing" mascara that both lengthens and volumizes - it's a "one or the other" kind of deal. I feel as if I barely got any length out of it. Now, my mascara routine is pretty basic. I normally do two coats and I'm done. However, just for the sake of this review, I applied three. Even after the third coat my lashes still seemed to be pretty regular in length.

Lastly, there's still some things I'm unsure about. For instance, the "PROTWIST180" wand? Fancy name...I know. But I didn't find it to be amazing on my lashes. Like I stated before, it's almost an awkward/bulky shape. For those with longer and fuller lashes, this mascara would probably be a dream, but for others with smaller lashes.....I'm just not seeing that the results would be astonishing based on my experience (like I said, I have about a normal lash type)

Bottom Line- Would I Recommend "Lash Domination"?

Yes - For those who already have a longer lash type.
Why?: This was my same recommendation for women who would always ask about the Flawless Definition Original and Flawless Definition Volumizing mascaras - If you have longer and fuller lashes, a large volumizing brush will definitely grasp onto them and enhance the fullness and thickness. The spiral feature is also at your advantage if your lashes are long enough to really wrap around the twisted shape of the brush.
No -  For those with small/sparse lashes.
Why?: I think women with smaller lashes are more concerned about lengthening than volumizing. Large bulky brushes are hard to work with when you're trying to coat your short and almost invisible lashes. Thinner mascara wands with good grasp are normally better. Go for the Original Flawless Definition! ;)

I hope you all enjoyed this review! I was so excited to give this mascara a shot! If you have any questions feel free to leave them down below :)

Until next time...

Love,
Shelbey

  1. How strange.. I've never seen a wand like that! I have smaller lashes in the inner corners that are near impossible to get coated well. The name of the mascara seemed like it'll be good.

So the Original Flawless Definition doesn't irritate eyes as well?

  2. Thanks for the review! I definitely want to pick this up by my expectations for length are a little lower now (you and I seem to have similar lash length).
