Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Cream Review

Hello guys! After purchasing Tarte's new Amazonian Clay BB Cream (tinted moisturizer) about a month ago, I've had time to test it out and gather my complete thoughts on it. Hope you enjoy!

Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer

I was so excited when I saw Tarte released this BB cream. I've heard numerous times that this is just repackaging from their old tinted moisturizer with "BB" slapped on the front. I didn't really check into it because I never tried the tinted moisturizer before and I wanted to take the new product for what it is.

Basic Info:
  • 9 shades available
  • $36
  • Light to "Medium" coverage
  • Oil Free, Paraben Free, and synthetic fragrances
  • I chose "Agent 4" (Light-Medium) as my shade. This color is for light complexions with beige undertones.

Before
Here you can obviously see my skin is very light and dull. I also have several freckles throughout my face. Although, I do not mind the freckles to be honest. Most of the time I like them to peek through!

Application Process
I used a pretty small amount because after working with it for about a month I've discovered it isn't extremely buildable and you don't want to waste product by putting too much on.

To blend the BB moisturizer into my skin I used a Real Techniques "Buffing Brush" I absolutely love using this brush with the BB cream!

After BB Application:
After buffing the BB cream into my skin I do notice instant color and also more of a brighter/dewey complexion. The BB cream is obviously very light coverage. I would't go as far as saying it is a "medium" coverage. I do like that it brightens and also evens out the complexion pretty well.

After Blush/Eyes/Lips

Of course, adding a little bit of Tarte's amazing cheek stain and mascara helps out as well ;)

As you can see....freckles are still there! If you're not a fan of your freckles then I definitely would not recommend this. I personally like the dewy finish and peek-a-boo effect it has!

Other Products I Used
Tarte's Natural Cheek Stain in "Flush"
Maybelline 24hr color tattoos in "Barely Branded" and "Bad to the Bronze"
(Left) Barely Branded (Right) Bad to the Bronze

NYX's Lipstick in "Milan"
Tarte's "Lights, Camera, Lashes" Mascara, Tarte's 360 creaseless eye primer", and Tartes's emphasEYES Brow Mousse

Overall Thoughts:
  • I have definitely been loving using this on days where I only need light coverage.
  • I would not say it is a medium coverage product (for me at least).
  • The color is absolutely perfect. I ordered online and was very skeptical about how it would look but the description was on point.
  • You can't feel it on your skin!
  • Very nice dewy finish.
  • I have dry skin and I am almost 100% positive people with combo/oily skin will have to set this with a translucent powder or some type of setting product.
  • Great to have on hand for those "no time for anything" days!
