Clinique Super Balanced Silk Foundation

I have spent the last month testing Superbalanced Silk Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Foundation by Clinique and have came up with some awesome results and interesting findings. Clinique has really been stepping up their foundation game within the past year or so. I love to see that they are coming out with new and innovative formulas; this foundation is no exception to the game!

Superbalanced Silk is described as a foundation for all skin types which controls oil while still offering hydration throughout the day. It also contains SPF 15 and comes in 20 different shades.

I have to admit that I was a little weary when I read that it "helps control oils" because I have absolutely no oil left to spare in my dry skin. However, I never noticed this foundation to dry my skin out or make my face look more parched (this is always a plus for me.)

The shade range is also pretty impressive within this line. You have Pink ("P" on box and bottle), Neutral ("N" on box and bottle) and Golden ("G" on box and bottle) undertones to choose from.

My Experience 

Wearing "Silk Shell"

Application: I was pleasantly surprised by the little to no effort it takes to blend this foundation into the skin. I use my Beauty Blender with about a quarter size amount of product and tap into my skin.

Texture & Finish: It's in the name! "Silk" is a great way to describe the overall feel and texture of this foundation. It is absolutely weightless when you apply it. I even mentioned that if your eyes were closed while applying this foundation, you wouldn't even know makeup was going on your face. Along with the weightless aspect, it also offers a smooth and silky finish... great for all skin types, in my opinion.

Coverage: Clinique says this foundation has "sheer to moderate" coverage. I do agree that it is customizeable and for me it gave a great medium to full daily coverage. If you do have more blemishes or dark spots it may offer a solid medium coverage rather than completely full.

Longevity: I give this foundation a solid 7- to - 8 hour wear. I don't believe there is an actual "wear-claim" on this formula but for me, I found it held up for the majority of the time under a standard 8- hour wear. I don't believe that if you are outside in the heat a lot that this formula would be the best option for you. Ideally I can see this being great for an office work environment, school, moderate to low temperatures, or anyone who finds that they are indoors most days.

Final Thoughts

I can generally tell if I am going to like a foundation from the first time I've used it... I think most women can. From the first application of Clinique Superbalanced Silk Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Foundation, I could immediately tell it was one of (if not the) most weightless foundations in my MASSIVE collection of foundations. I have been pleased from day one!

I was also worried that this would enhance my dry and sensitive skin due to the silky and semi-matte finish but never came across that problem! Overall, I have been enjoying this as my daily foundation. It looks natural yet polished on my skin. Have you tried it? Let me know in the comments!
