Last month I finished the HUM Nutrition "Cleanse to the Rescue" 21 day detox. The system is available at Sephora and is designed to promote a flatter stomach, radiant skin and a full body detox.
When HUM asked me to try their program, I was a little nervous! I've always heard crazy stories about system detoxes and how they mess with your digestive system but with the "new year -new me" mind set, I wanted to give it a shot!
With each detox set you'll get 21 packets filled with 4 pills each (2 daily cleanse pills and 2 flatter me pills) You take a "Flatter Me" pill before two of your main meals and two "Daily Cleanse" capsules without food daily.
Flatter Me Pill = small pill
Daily Cleanse Pill = big pill
Taste: I'll be honest, I completely hated the taste of the pills! I'm not used to taking capsules and they definitely had a strong plastic taste (the capsules aren't actually plastic - that was just the closest description I could give.) However, I let Will try one and he said he didn't think they were too bad so I guess it's just a preference thing.
The Process: Overall you have to take 4 pills daily for 21 days. It was definitely a challenge for me to remember to take the pills and bring a packet in my purse daily (I'm hardly at home through out the day) Although I only missed a couple pills during the entire process, I could see someone who is a bit forgetful to miss taking these.
Changes: I kept a fairly healthy diet throughout the entire process and I think in combination with the detox, my stomach stayed pretty flat. As far as my skin goes, I noticed less dryness! I rarely break out so I can't vouch in that area!
Negative Changes: The only negative change I noticed during the process was bloating. My stomach remained flat but I felt severe bloating and some days discomfort. I spoke with one of HUM reps and she suggested that I might need to drink more water - which I am guilty of!
Recommendations: When taking the "Flatter Me" Pill, I suggest taking it at least half an hour before your meal. This was also a challenge for me because sometimes I'm not sure when I will eat next (this sounds like I'm a starving college kid but it's just because I work and go to school every day so my eating schedule changes haha) I did noticed that if I took the pill at least 30 minutes before eating, it helped lower my appetite.
Overall Verdict: I think this detox will vary for different people. Our bodies react differently to certain things and it's hard for me to judge how this cleanse would work for every person. I can't say that it was life changing for me but overall I think it did help push me to a healthier lifestyle while adding in some bonus benefits.
Have you guys tried HUM "Cleanse to the Rescue"? What were your thoughts?
