Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder: Dim Light

I officially purchased what I would consider to be the most luxurious of face powders that I have ever owned. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders are designed to diffuse the way lighting appears on your skin, giving you a radiant complexion.

I have ALWAYS wanted to try one and on my last visit to Sephora, my heart spoke to me and said, "It's time..." annnnnd I left with a $50 face powder that day ($45 to be exact). I chose the shade "Dim Light" which is a semi-luminous neutral peachy powder. I wasn't sure if I wanted one of the more shimmering finishes or natural and this seemed to be the closest between the two finishes.
There's a multitude of ways you can use the Ambient Lighting Powders (setting powder, highlight, stand-alone face powder, etc.) I have just been using mine as a finishing powder. I don't find that it has enough luminosity/shimmer in it to use as a highlight so unfortunately I won't be able to utilize it in that way.

I have to be honest, I am still getting used to it and don't think I've found the proper way to wear it yet. It's a beautiful powder and I don't have anything like it in my collection. However, I still haven't found it to be more flattering than my Bare Minerals Mineral Veil or IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores HD Powder

Overall, I'm not "in love" with it (yet). I wanted to make this post to ask for your opinions on it. How do you personally wear the Ambient Powders if you have one that doesn't have much of a shimmer to it? I'd love to know! By the way, I tried to photo a swatch but this is just too close to my skin tone to show up!

  1. I have the same shade only in the palette. One thing is getting the right brush! I use the bareMinerals fan brush that isn't very dense to place a small amount of powder on my face. An associate at Sephora suggested getting the finishing powder brush by Hourglass but $35 was too much to part with after buying the uber expensive powder. I've also found that it sits better on the outside of my face and lower cheeks than around my eyes. Finally it works 10x better for me on top of the Benefit finishing powder as opposed to the mineral veils, not sure why that is but it looks much less powdery! Hope that helps!

  2. I swatched this in Sephora a couple of weeks ago & it didn't excite me as much as I thought it would... I wasn't "WOW"-ed bij the effect of it, definitely not at that price tag!

  3. good is that your messages, unlike in WhatsApp, immediately snapchatonlinelogine on which we have provided in this certain site, while we are nice.
