Soft and Elegant

Something completely out of the ordinary happened today.... I actually styled my hair. Most of you might not know that there's on thing I despise in my morning routine, and that's doing my hair. I've gotten so lazy with styling and fixing my hair lately that I literally might spend five minutes on it.

I've decided that not only do I need to start "fixing" my hair again, I need to branch out and try hairstyles I would have never in the past. So, I started where any girl should start for hair tutorials, Kate Bryan at The Small Things Blog. I found a tutorial she did for this look I'm wearing and I have searched all over her website to find it and can't seem to stumble upon it?! This was the closest look I could find.

Today's look was just an experiment for a makeup and hair tutorial I'll be doing soon for special occasions in the summer (weddings, outdoor parties, bridesmaids etc.) I kept everything fairly simple.
Like I said, this was more of an experimental look for what my actual tutorial will be. I tried to use minimal products that really enhanced my features. I kept the face simple with NYX Angel VeilTrue Match Lumi, MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, and MAC MSF in "Cheeky Bronze"

The eyes were a simple thin cat eye using L'oreal Infallible Gel Liner and a bit of mascara. On my lips I used NYX Lip Pencil in "Peek-a-Boo Neutral", Tarte Glamazon Lipstick in "Inspired", and NYX Butter Gloss in "Angel Food Cake". Pink or mauve lip colors always seem to work best with my skin tone.

I can't wait to have the actual look and tutorial up for you all but in the mean time, I hope you enjoyed this trial look :)

  1. You look so gorgeous, Shelbey! Your hair always looks amazing - I almost don't believe you when you say you barely spend five minutes on it ;)
I get you, though - I'm starting to loathe styling my hair especially with the summer heat. No thanks!
    Keep well :)
