So, a few days ago I posted a look similar to this on my Instagram and several people requested a tutorial. The original look took me about 5 minutes to do and was super fast. I wanted to do something along the same lines only jazzed up a bit. This is what I came up with...
I have to say, this look reminds me of something I would wear in the fall time (please hurry up and get here btw) I worked with a lot of warm matte browns and burgundies. Plus, the strong contour is another feature people were mentioning that they liked so I didn't hesitate to add that back into the groove.
The key to this look is the super warm blown out smoky eye. I think the warmer browns compliment the lip color much better than cooler or neutral browns would. This is definitely not my "every day" go-to makeup. It's going to take a little more effort and time than usual (for me at least.)
I did use mainly higher end products to create this look. I try to incorporate both drugstore and high end when I can but I had to stick with what looked best with the look.
I started with my Bare Minerals Bare Skin Serum foundation, which is my go-to right now. For concealing I have to hand it to my Maybelline FIT Me Concealer. I bought this to see if it was anything like the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer since it has been rumored to be identical. I can't say for sure if it is but it did a good job of covering the under eye area. I contoured and set my entire face with the Anastasia Contour Kit. For blush, I wanted something in the warm family again, MAC "Love Joy" is such an interesting and beautiful shade. Perfect for fall and especially on darker skin tones. To highlight I grabbed the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in "Opal".
I believe the main focus of this look is definitely the eyes. I love working with matte shadows. I hadn't used my "Meet Matte Nude" palette by The Balm recently so I pulled it out and used "Matt Singh", "Matt Garcia", and "Matt Wood". I added a classic cat eye using L'oreal Infallible Gel Liner in black.
When I initially did this look, the lips were the main focus since I didn't wear any eye shadow. I used NYX Lip Pencil in "Natural" and Soft Matte Lip Cream in "Cannes". I also added a bit of Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in "Broadest Berry" (I forgot to photograph it in the picture above - sorry!)
