Hi guys! So, after searching my town for close to three weeks, the new L'oreal "Le Matte" and "La Laque" lip colors FINALLY appeared! I was so excited to walk into Walgreens and see these beauties!
I wanted to share a quick review over these intriguing lippies! I bought three colors - 2 "laque" and 1 "matte".
"I Laque You A Lot"
Holy bright red! I was not expecting this color to be so pigmented. "I Laque You A Lot" is a true scarlett red - just a hint of orange undertone.
This was the shiniest formula out of the two that I bought. It's definitely layerable (real word? probably not..) meaning you can wear it lightly or build it up. It's definitely a gorgeous true red!
I didn't find this shade to be super shiny, like the claim states. It felt like a regular lipstick to me and came off like a regular lipstick normally would. This was the only "neutral" shade in the "Laque" collection which disappointed me. I would have loved to seen some shiny nudes and corals...this is my personal request to you L'oreal ;)
The color came off a little darker than expected. This is definitely a mauve-pink. Chances are you probably have a shade similar to this, I know I do!
"She's So Matte"
Of course, I had to get a "Matte" color from the collection! Honestly, I absolutely love the formula of these! They glide on smoother than any matte lip color I've ever tried. However, I'm just not a fan of this color. I was expecting it to be a little more "muted". In person, it's bright tropical pink....not me at all.
Overall Thoughts - "La Laque"
- Not overly impressed with the supposed "shine" factor. Yes, they have some shine, but nothing that can beat a good ole' gloss.
- Out of the four color choices, only one color is what I consider to be "every day wearable"....expand on the neutrals!
- Comfortable wear
- Not too sticky (you'll still feel a little "stick")
Overall Thoughts: - "Le Matte"
- Wonderful formula! Very smooth and easy to apply.
- Not drying on the lips
- Better "neutral" color selection than "La Laque"
I'm always on the hunt for the next best lip product. Although I wasn't overly amazed with them, I think they're worth a shot if any of the colors intrigue you. The reason I say this is because I also look for great feel/formulas in lipsticks and I think both of these are extremely comfortable on the lips.
What do you all think about the new L'oreal lip collection? Let me know in the comments!
Thank you for reading!
Until next time...
