Dry Skin Remedies

Dry Skin Remedies

It's summer time and I know a lot of readers will be thinking to themselves, "No one has dry skin in the summer?!" Well, I certainly do, and mine is dry all year round.

I know the majority of women have either combo/oily and normal to dry skin types. However, I wanted to share some of my personal dry skincare break-throughs with anyone who struggles with flakey, itchy, irritated, and just flat out dry/tight skin year round. I hope this helps!

Exfoliating

Clarisonic Mia 2 Sonic Skin Cleansing Device Surf

Whenever I notice that my skin is starting to get a little on the flaky side, I almost always incorporate some type of exfoliating into my routine to scrub away any dead/flaky skin on my face. Now, I don't personally own a Clarisonic and I don't think that it's crucial that you have one to get a good exfoliating routine going. I use the ProActive Cleansing brush that was actually given to me by my mother. It works in a similar way as the Clarisonic.

If you don't have some type of cleansing brush, not a problem. I often go for my St. Ives Timeless Apricot Face Scrub. It's almost that perfect medium of exfoliation, not too harsh and not too soft. As I've mentioned numerous times before, St. Ives is probably my favorite drugstore skincare brand and this exfoliator will leave your skin feeling soft and fresh!
My Recommendations:
  1. Any Cleansing Brush
  2. St. Ives Timeless Apricot Facial Scrub

Moisturize & Protect

Bare Escentuals Purely Nourishing Cream: Dry Skin

Bare Escentuals Purely Nourishing Cream: Dry Skin

If you have dry skin then it's pretty obvious that you need a good moisturizer. My holy grail facial moisturizer is the Bare Minerals Purely Nourishing Cream for Dry Skin. It's very thick but I find that it's wearable during the day since my skin absorbs everything quickly. This moisturizer immediately makes my skin feel comfortable and hydrated and I would recommend it to ANYONE who is still looking for a great dry skin moisturizer.

Another interesting product I like to use by Bare Minerals is the "Active Cell Renewal Night Serum". This serum is designed to help repair your skin cells as you sleep and also boost the moisture levels in your skin. I can't tell you how soft and refreshing my skin feels in the morning after applying the serum the night before. It's definitely a must-have in my skincare routine.

My Recommendations:
  1. Bare Minerals Purely Nourishing Cream- Dry Skin
  2. Bare Minerals Active Cell Renewal Night Serum

Treat

Aquaphor Healing Ointment

Aquaphor Healing Ointment

This next step will not be for everyone but for those of you who struggle with severely dry skin or even skin conditions like eczema, Aquaphor will be your life saver. I don't believe Aquaphor was ever designed to be used on the face considering it does contain mineral oil. I know, I know, mineral oil? It sounds crazy but I can promise you that it will literally heal your skin overnight. Aquaphor is a thick ointment that can definitely only be worn at night. It is very greasy and for those who aren't used to it, probably irritating. However, Aquaphor has worked wonders on my skin ever since I was a baby and being born with a skin condition, I can honestly swear by it. Give it a shot if you've tried everything out there!

My Recommendation:
  1. Aquaphor Healing Ointment

Maintain

Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist

Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist

This last product is a new addition to my dry skincare family. The Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist is a nice refreshing mist that I like to use to finish off my entire nightly and morning routine just to give my face that final burst of moisture. I also spray it over my makeup during the day if it is feeling dry and I love how it instantly makes my skin feel hydrated and refreshed. I've really enjoyed this product within the past few months!

My Recommendation:
  1. Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist

I hope you all found this post helpful in some way. These products truly help my skin and make my everyday skincare routine that much easier.

Until next time...
Love,
Shelbey
