Bare Minerals: Which Products You Need & May Not Need

Hello to everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. I spent my Saturday at my cousin's wedding and today I've just been doing some random things I think we all do on Sundays (lazing around, grabbing some lunch, watching TV- HGTV to be exact, and eating some more) ha!

In case you're strictly a reader of my blog and have never had the chance to visit my beauty channel, I wanted to post my latest video along with my written opinions. A couple days ago I decided to film what I thought was going to be my "Top 5 Bare Mineral Products" and then I got to thinking, "Wouldn't it be more informative if I let people know what they should spend their money on and what they may want to hold off on?" So, that's what I did!

I get asked everyday which products are worth it and which aren't. I've compiled 5 of my absolute favorite Bare Mineral face products together to share why I think they are fabulous and why they work. In addition, I also mention 3 similar products that just aren't up to par compared to the others. The response to this video was great! A lot of viewers mentioned that they would like to see an "eye product" and "lip product edition". What do you all think?

I hope you all enjoy! Feel free to leave me your own thoughts!

Top 5 "Bare Minerals" Face Products
Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Prime Time Brightening Face Primer, 30ml

Bare Minerals "Brightening" Prime Time Foundation Primer
  • Why this product?- For the longest time I was an Original Prime Time user. One day I randomly decided to try out the Brightening and I was instantly hooked. The Brightening primer has a little bit of a tint to it as well as some shimmer. However, the shimmer DOES NOT show up once you apply it. The primer instantly perks up your complexion with its subtle hint of color. The overall texture of the primer is also thicker than the original, which my dry skin loves! It makes my skin feel so luxurious which is why I've permanently replaced my Original primer with it.

bareMinerals SPF 15 Original Foundation, Light (W15) 0.28 oz (8 g)
Bare Minerals "Original" Foundation
  • Why this product?- Let me just say, you can't beat this foundation. I will never find anything like it, I'm sure. I have very dry skin. The natural luminosity in the original foundation gives my skin the most natural glow and instantly evens out my complexion. The key thing to remember with this foundation is that instead of masking the face, it works to even out the skin tone which gives the appearance of flawless skin. No heavy liquids, parabens, fragrance, or oils are lying on your face throughout the day. Sometimes I even forget I'm wearing it. I also want to mention that if you have oily skin the Matte formula may suit your skin better. This is just my personal preference and what works for my skin type.

bareMinerals Multi-Tasking Concealer Broad Spectrum SPF 20, Summer Bisque 0.07 oz (2 g)

Bare Minerals Powder Concealers (Bisque and Well Rested)
  • Why these products?- I've combined both of Bare Minerals concealers into one category. Bisque is the all over multi-tasking concealer. Well Rested was designed specifically for under the eyes (dark circles. However, you can use either of them for face and eye concealment. I have honestly never found a concealer that works better than these. You may be thinking, "Right? A powder concealer..ha" I promise you've never used anything like this! The powder is highly concentrated with pigment which works to cover amazingly. It's seriously something you will just have to try for yourself to believe. My words cannot do it justice!

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals READY™ SPF 15 Touch Up Veil - Original

Bare Minerals "Mineral Veil"
  • Why this product?- For an absolutely flawless and even finish to my makeup, I have to us Mineral Veil. If I had to pick between the original or new compact veil, I'd definitely go with the compact. It's so handy for travel and your purse. Mineral Veil works to minimize the appearance of pores and also help eliminate oil in the skin. Let me just say, I never have to touch up my actual foundation throughout the day. Instead, if my makeup has became somewhat uneven, I just reach for my Mineral Veil and it automatically perfects my complexion. Some people say it doesn't make a difference and I honestly think if your a minimal to light coverage person, no, it doesn't. That's because it's designed to seamlessly blend your foundation, blush, bronzer etc. together for a perfect finish. If you're barely wearing your foundation, spare the veil for your medium to full coverage days!

Products I Can Live Without

Bare Escentuals Ready Foundation Broad Spectrum Spf 20
Bare Minerals "READY" Foundation
  • What out-shines this product?- Okay, okay. I know I raved about the READY foundation when it first arrived. The issues that began to unfold for me was it being slightly heavier, no luminosity, and no exact color match. The READY foundation is supposed to have a "natural" finish. I guess I'm just way too used to the luminous finish of the original formula. The colors are also off in the READY foundations. some women stayed the same, some women went up one shade and some women ever went up 2-3 shades. It's been so crazy trying to match people! Now, I want to point out that I don't think this is a bad foundation at all. It's a slightly new product so there's room for improvement. I think the READY foundation has work wonderfully for some women. I'm just a die-hard original formula woman!

Bare Escentuals Well-Rested Face And Eye Brightener
Bare Minerals Well-Rested Pen
  • What out-shines this product?- This is one product I can honestly say has not done anything for me. The Well-Rested Pen is a liquid whereas the original Well Rested is a powder. The pen provides no coverage, only a small amount of luminosity. When I' m looking to hide and brighten under eye circles, I look for coverage which unfortunately, I can't get with the pen. If you're looking for great coverage I would HIGHLY recommend going for the original powder Well Rested.

Bare Escentuals Stroke Of Light Eye Brightener
Bare Minerals "Stroke of Light"
  • What out-shines this product?- In my opinion, I think BM could have just stuck with the Stroke of Light instead of Well-Rested Pen. It's pretty much the same thing, only with SOME coverage. The Stroke of Light is a liquid under eye brightener. Unlike the Well-Rested Pen, it has a tint and also a small amount of coverage. I will say that I like using it with my Tarte BB cream. However, it's nothing my Bisque concealer can't cover!

I hope you all enjoyed this post. I absolutely love Bare Minerals, I think that's obvious. The three products I've mentioned that I could live without are not awful products by any means. However, I just feel as if other products can out-perform them and I wan't to let you know my personal opinions on them and what has and hasn't worked as well for me. Thanks for reading!

Until next time...
Love,
Shelbey

  1. Hi Shelbey. Thanks for the review. I've been really thinking about switching to the Ready foundation since it looks so easy. The only thing stopping me is what I've been reading about the color match. I think I will still give it a try :)
