2nd Love Cosmetics: "Glitzy Glam" Eye Shadow Palette Review

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for the past couple days. This is pretty much the last week I have assignments due so I've been cramming last minute.

I received some intriguing products in the mail from 2nd Love Cosmetics the other day and was eager to test them out and give you all a full review. Hope you enjoy!

These products were sent to me by 2nd Love Cosmetics for consideration of review. All opinions remain my own.

"Modest Glam" Glitzy Eye Palette
As you can tell, there's some interesting colors going on in this palette. There's two versions of the Glitzy Glam palettes (speckled dry shadow and glitter cream shadow) This is a speckled eye shadow palette. The colors look crazy, I know. However, they actually blended into some really nice wearable colors.
You can see that the first color which appears to be orange with blue speckles is actually a soft purple. Some of the colors like the second shadow (light creamsicle) are a bit talcy and flaky. Out of this palette, that's the only shadow I found to be not very pigmented and dry. Oh and I accidentally swatched this palette before photographing in. Hence the blurred shadow. Sorry!

Quick Test
I had already been wearing a Clinique Chubby Stick shadow tint on my eyes for the day but I wanted to pop some of the shadow on to see how well it worked. I used the dark speckled brown which was actually very pigmented and also the light creamsicle color.

Lunar Glitz
I'm normally not much of a colorful shadow gal but since most of these shadows are only speckled with color, they actually just give a nice hint to the eyes.
If you like cool tones and purples, this palette would be great for you. I didn't find any powdery or flaky shadows in this palette which is great. That's not saying that they are the most creamy shadows in the world, but they do have decent color pay off.

"Glitzy Glam" Eye Palette Thoughts:
  • Very interesting concept with the speckled colors- not too overwhelming as they may appear.
  • Could be a little bit more pigmented but personally think they improved from the shadows in the "Fall in Love" palette.
  • Lunar Glitz palette was the most impressive for me (as far as pigmentation and color theme)

"Dream Land" Glitzy Glam Glitter Palette
Talk about some glitter! These are the shiniest palettes I have ever seen! The glitter palettes are cream shadows with glitter particles in them. Dreamland consists of a light pink, true pink, true purple, violet purple, and plum purple.
The glitter was pretty chunky, which I was not a fan of. It also felt as if the glitter was only on the top and the cream contained none at all. I can really say the only time I could see myself wearing these are for Halloween or costume makeup. On a lighter note, the colors are pretty, just not very ideal for everyday wear.

"Cali Sun" Glitzy Glam Glitter Palette
I have to cut to the chase on this palette. The colors, for some reason, seemed patchier than the Dreamland palette. The colors in this palette are not exactly appealing to me either. In the packaging they look amazing, but the swatches were disappointing. You can see in the top picture, the last glitter shadow is supposed to be brown, yet it swatched as a blackish/grey cream base with almost black glitter. Again, I could only recommend these personally as costume makeup.
I also want to mention to definitely use a brush when applying these shadows. A positive not about these cream glitter palettes is that they DO stay on your skin and don't budge once dried. I had glitter everywhere ha ha

Glitter Palette Thoughts:
  • I can't say I was a huge fan of these. The Dreamland palette definitely out-performed the Cali Sun palette as far as the full pigmentation goes.
  • They do stay on well.
  • The glitter is a bit chunky for my taste.
  • They would make great costume makeup palettes.
  • The glitter seemed to only be laying on the top of the cream, almost like it wasn't actually mixed into the cream shadow at all.
  • I could see these being a little bit more useful with smaller glitter particles or just as regular matte/metallic cream shadow bases.

I just checked the date and you wrote this almost a year ago lol! Whew! Something just told me they looked 'cakey' and sure enough I wouldn't enjoy that glitter issue with them!
