Face of the Day: Spring!

Hi everyone! I thought today would be a good day to do a quick face of the day post. I filmed a "Get Ready with Me" video for my channel that should be up this evening! This post will correspond with the makeup I used in it.

I have been stuck in the same makeup rut for months now! Barely any eye shadow, light coverage foundation, and light pink lips. I promise I'll move on to something new soon ;) I did contour and apply more coverage in this look today though. Enjoy!

I know you guys are probably SO tired of seeing me talk about this palette, but seriously, it is just SO PERFECT for spring! The majority of the colors are light and refreshing but I also love the fact that there's still a few darker shades to use as eye liner or for those days you just want to a nice soft smokey eye.

For today's look I wanted to keep the eye brows a little bit more natural so I actually didn't fill them in as much as usual. I've come to the conclusion that I like the brow pencil, however, I don't think I would rush to repurchase it when I run out. Just not a life changing product for me!

Other products used:
  • Rimmel ScandalEYES Waterproof Liner in "Taupe"
  • Rimmel ScandalEYES "Show Off" Mascara
  • Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume Mascara

Tarte BB Cream

Tarte BB Cream

I actually tried a new combo today! I wore my Tarte BB Cream along with my Bare Minerals READY Foundation. I have never worn the two together and I actually liked how it turned out! It was a little heavier than usual but still not cakey!

Bare Escentuals foundation

I've kind of swayed away from my READY foundation lately, especially Medium Beige. I just never liked the way it settled into my skin (the color...not the foundation.) I wanted to figured out a way to incorporate it into my weekly routine so it wouldn't be wasted, so I paired it with my Tarte BB cream!

I went for a more pink-ier blush since I was feeling the spring fever! I chose Tarte's Amazonian Clay 12 hr. blush in "Doll Face". It's basically the perfect bubble gum pink, definitely something I normally don't go for but I absolutely love it!

Other products used:
  • Bare Minerals Translucent READY Mineral Veil
  • Physician's Formula Happy Booster Light Bronzer

Hope you all enjoyed this quick post!
Until next time...

  1. ahhhh! i just love you! i have followed your blog, insta AND youtube. I am a little obsessed. I tried the READY foundation after years of using the original loose version because of your post about it and i am HOOKED, I have to get the BB cream now too!

    1. Aw thank you so much. That means a lot! I'm glad you like the READY :)

Thanks for being a wonderful reader/follower/subscriber (and whatever else is in between) haha

  2. I'm a little star struck at the moment! You have inspired me to want to make vids and post on my blog... :) You are definitely my inspiration... I sound like a total creep haha! Promise i'm not!

    1. Aw, thank you so much! That has definitely made my day! Do what you love and don't let anyone get you down for it!

  3. Okay, Shelbey. I have a question that I have asked Leslie Blodgett, Jessica Foust and bareMinerals on Facebook and haven't gotten a response from anyone. I love the look of READY foundation, but I can't seem to find the right shade. It either looks too pink or if I wipe my nose you can see red blotches where the tissue touched the foundation. I wear Golden Fair in matte foundation and have tried Fairly Medium, Medium and even mixing the two in READY. I'm using a primer underneath and have some redness to my skin, but only on my cheeks. Any suggestions?? I'm just about ready to give up the READY.

    1. Hi Joni,

First of all, if you are wanting to counteract that redness in your skin STAY AWAY from Fairly Medium and Medium. They are both cool toned foundations (pink foundations) which do not counteract redness. I know a lot of places say to stick with the same undertone that your skin is but if you're looking to actually correct the redness, cool toned foundations technically won't do that. If you're content with having a little bit of redness then don't worry about it.

Have you tried Fairly Light in the READY formula by chance? It is a Neutral, meaning it has no yellow and no pink which will help counteract your redness. Golden Fair is a Warm foundation which also helps counteract redness and is what you are used to I'm sure.

My biggest recommendation would be to get shade matched again and let the women know you do not want a cool toned foundation (if you aren't liking the pink undertones). I honestly think Fairly Light would be a great match judging by the description you are giving me. Neutral foundations are the most popular and seem to work best on most skin tones. If Fairly Light is too light then give Medium Beige a shot, it will be your next option.

      Hope this helped!
